How I work
Many families live between the two countries: a marriage celebrated in Albania, children growing up in Italy, a spouse who moves. Each case first requires working out where to act and under which law.
I handle proceedings in Italy and coordinate with trusted colleagues in Albania for anything that must be done there.
Kavajë lies between Tirana and the port of Durrës, where ferries leave for Bari and Ancona. Many families in the area have relatives who live and work in Italy.

Useful EU and international rules

1980 Hague Convention
On international child abduction; both Italy and Albania are parties. It allows the return of a wrongfully removed child to be requested.

Recognition of foreign judgments
Italian Law No 218/1995 sets the conditions under which an Albanian judgment takes effect in Italy.

The 1961 Hague Convention, in force for both countries, simplifies the legalisation of public documents.
